When should I schedule my tan?

After your spray tan, you should wait the recommended amount of time suggested at your appointment (8-10 hours before your rinse for classic solutions and 1-4 hours when tanning with a rapid solution).   You will see very similar results from the traditional and rapid solutions.  The options just offer different conveniences.  The rapid rinse is just that, it allows you to rinse between 1-4 hours.  This is great if you get warm when you are sleeping, have children or animals that may get you wet, or you simply don't like to tip toe around your tan.  If you plan on sleeping in your tan, the classic solution is the choice for you!  After any tan, it's best to wear dark, loose-fitting long sleeve clothing to prevent pigment transfer of the bronzers.  I am here to help you figure out what option will be best for you, your skin type, and your schedule!

If you are tanning prior to a special event it is recommended to have a trial tan the month before your event.  When tanning for an event such as a birthday, vacation, graduation, or wedding, you should schedule your tan 2-3 days before.  This allows your skin to be fully developed before you shower with soap the first time.  It also allows us a margin for error if there were anything to not come out perfect, we have time to make corrections.

What do I need to do before my appointment?

To achieve uniform, long lasting results with your spray tan your skin needs to be properly prepared.  The day before your appointment exfoliate with a non-oil-based scrub, exfoliating mitt, or a dry brush.  If you shower and exfoliate the day of your spray tan, it should be done at least 12 hours before you tan, and you should rinse with cool water before you get out.  Be sure to shave the day before or wax at least 3 days before.  Wash your face to remove all makeup and oils.  Having a clean body free of moisturizers, deodorants, and perfumes is vital to ensuring your tan comes out properly.  Be prepared to wear loose clothing after your tan until your first rinse.

How long will my tan last?

You can expect a life of 7-10 days out of your spray tan.  The better you care for your tan, the longer it will last!  It is important that you shower in lukewarm water and only use mild soap as necessary.  Do not exfoliate, pat dry, and moisturize!  The more hydrated your skin, the longer your tan will last.  This means hydrate from the inside too, drink lots of water!  A good rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounces every day.

Avoid activities that would cause excessive sweating.  Contact with water or sweat could result in lines or uneven tanning.  Avoiding chlorine and salt water will aide in keeping your tan even as it fades.

Will I turn orange?

No! The orange-y look that some spray tans are known for are due to a few different things. DHA is the ingredient in spray tans that causes the top layer of your skin to turn tan. nLow quality DHA is the main culprit of an orange tan, that is why we use only the highest quality products Made in America!  Another cause for an orange tan is over application/ build up of DHA.  This is prevented by application by an experienced and trained technician.
